About our breeding

When you choose to add one of our golden retriever puppies to your family you are buying a labor of love and investing in a long term companion. We give around the clock care and attention to these puppies in a full time capacity. We treat these puppies as if they were our dogs for the time we have them with us. The puppies moms are our pets and the sires do not live on property. However, the dam and sires are both genetically and OFA cleared, to ensure a healthy future for your puppy. After they leave we still love to keep in contact and offer advice and consultation from puppy rearing thru life! We love having our dogs come back for visits or to take advantage of lifetime discounts on boarding services at out facility when you buy a puppy. All of our Golden Retriever puppies are born and bred in Ohio.

Millie

Chloe still lives at Pondside Paws with one of her babies, Sydney. In her time off she enjoys retrieving while swimming and reminding everyone that she should be in charge. She is happy to take long naps on a cool floor, a breezy porch, or on her back on the couch.

Millie lives down the road from Pondside Paws with her new family, including pup, Hazel! Her new home is a farm complete with sheep and wide open pastures for her to frolic in until her hearts desire! She loves spending her time off climbing into her owners lap for snuggles.

Planning ahead for a Golden Retriever puppy!

Research gender - Will it be a boy or a girl? Things to consider when deciding what gender you want for a pet. Research temperament of males vs females. Make sure you know all about each gender because if you are building a relationship with a specific breeder, you may not get your choice of gender on your timeline.
Research Golden Retrievers' needs - Golden Retrievers are great family pets but require lots of work, from managing hair to managing behavior!
Puppy Training - Puppy training should start with the family before your new furry family member is even is picked out! This includes researching and picking a puppy training program. So many options exist from on-site, books, to apps, to tv shows, to YouTube, you just need to find a program to fit your needs and learning style. A good program will start with a ‘before puppy comes home section’
Create space - When planning ahead to bring a new member into the home make sure you are creating spaces that are safe and inviting for your new family member. Research all the things your puppy will need as it grows into your homes and your hearts!
